What to Expect When You Visit Peace

When you visit Peace it is our prayer for you to "make yourself at home." We know that people feel more comfortable knowing something about the people, place and customs of an unfamiliar place when they arrive to visit for the first time. On this special web page we have put together some information we feel will answer questions you may have about where you are coming and make you a feel relaxed and tranquil when you visit us. To learn more than what is provided here just browse the other pages of our web site or contact us and we will be glad to answer any questions or receive any comments.

Before you head out for one of our Sunday worship services or many activities check out our map and driving directions page. It is best to get here early because parking goes fast. The church is fully wheelchair-accessible.

Greeters will meet you at the front door to welcome you. They will also give you a bulletin if you tell them you are a visitor. Be sure to have all electronic devices (cellphones, PDA's, beepers, etc.) turned off upon entering the church. Our ushers will gladly answer any questions you have, help you find you a seat, and provide assistance to you to take care of any personal needs you may have before worship begins.

God accepts us as we are - no matter who we are, what we do, or how we dress. We do not have a dress code, however, we do ask you to be mindful that your attire is not distracting to other worshippers. In Peace you will find us wearing anything from jeans and tee shirts, to suits and ties. Please wear whatever you feel is most comfortable for you in this setting.

We respect that your relationship with the Lord is a personal matter, and that your attendance is not for our benefit but for the uplifting of our God. We will at a set time in all of our gatherings stop and greet each other in an informal way. Some of us don't always get to talk and see each other often, so this is a time of brief fellowship. A minister will ask any first-time and returning visitors to please stand. We will not ask your name or any embarrassing questions. We just want to find you, so we may present you with a simple gift as a blessing for your choosing to visit us. After which we will greet you and each other with hellos, handshakes, and hugs.

The sound of babies crying in the sanctuary is the sound of a church growing. We are a family oriented church, so child care is available during all services for children six months and up. If you feel you must remove your baby from the sanctuary one of our ushers will assist you. Toddlers can hang out in our staffed nursery rooms and there's a special children's church held on first and third Sundays.

Basically, everything you need to follow the service is in the bulletin. There's no need to juggle multiple books and papers. The words to the hymns and responsive reading are on the video projector screens at the front of the sanctuary. A minister assigned to assist with worship leads the congregation with any responsive reading and a member of the music ministry leads the congregational hymn. The pastor will give directions for any special presentations or intercessions. Please be mindful that movement can distract someone from hearing an important part of the preached message, so do not walk during worship.
